Rumor has it that Eli Snyder, son of Batman V Superman Director Zack Snyder, will be playing the role of Robin in the DCCU. Eli is no stranger to working on his father’s films, having played young Leonidas (300) and young Rorschach (Watchmen). Being the Quarterback for his school’s Football team, Eli certainly has the build and athleticism to pull of playing Robin. Remember, it’s just a rumor. (Source: Heroic Hollywood)

This Robin suit looks an awful lot like…

…THIS.

Now, for the theory…or as I like to call it, “The ramblings of a mad fanboy”.

As the trailer for Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice has shown us, Robin is dead…Joker-style. Question is, which Robin? The obvious (and most traditional) answer is Jason Todd, but are they following the same Comics storyline or are they going to shake things up, like they already have? Stay with me here on this one…

What if the dead Robin is Dick Grayson? Think about it. This Batman is supposedly retired and is only coming back out due to the danger that is Superman. (No matter what you say, Superman was at least half responsible for the death of hundreds, if not thousands of people during his fight with Zod.) Of course, Batman comes back out with a vengeance! Hence the training and the hardcore taking down of bad guys. (It looks like he’s branding them, letting the world know that he was there and that they deserved to be taken down.) Now, what could have driven a man like Batman to retire? After all, in the Comics, he continued to fight evil even after the Joker killed Jason Todd. Then again, he was no Dick Grayson. Is it possible that the death of the first Robin, early enough during his crimefighting career, could have been just the thing to push Batman into retirement? Who knows? Until there is word of Nightwing continuing the fight against evil, anything is possible. I’m looking forward to finding out!
