The September Marvel Gear + Goods, Marvel Knights, delivered high quality office supplies for superhero investigators, with the highlights being a matchbox full of miniature sword-breakers, a coffee mug brimming with sweet Christmas, a vegan leather commonplace book for a hacked-off hardcase, and a devil, perched on a church window, to overlook your desk. Fans of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and The Defenders were not disappointed.

My favorite item in Marvel Knights was the set of ten Elektra Sai paper clips slid into matchbox-styled packaging with Elektra in one of her signature poses, sai crossed in front of her face. Though other nerdy paper clips do exist, these are the most stylish nerdy paper clips that I’ve seen, a uniquely wonderful use of the character’s iconography to create an item that is both useful and significant to Marvel fandom.

The exclusive Daredevil desk tray is my second favorite item in Marvel Knights. The use of a stained glass window as backdrop for the Catholic superhero Daredevil was an inspired choice, as was sculpting Daredevil in high relief, so that he looks like a gargoyle on his perch in front of the window. There are numerous other touches, like the art on the back which depicts The Kingpin in the papal center, presiding over an infernal city–Hell’s Kitchen, no doubt–and Bullseye and Elektra at his left and right hand, respectively.

The exclusive Luke Cage “Sweet Christmas” twelve ounce black and yellow coffee mug has an image in silver paint depicting key elements of classic seventies Power Man: his chain belt, his circlet crown, his bracelets, and his catchphrase, “Sweet Christmas!” The packaging is sharp as well, depicting Luke Cage and Daredevil taking a rooftop lunch break.

Though I didn’t luck into one of the three folder sets signed by the Netflix actors that play their respective characters, The Defenders tabbed file folders are an excellent item, on such a nice card stock that you can not only see and smell the quality, but feel it in your fingers. Jessica Jones is on the “Investigations” tab; attorney Matt Murdock, in his Daredevil guise, is on the “Legal Documents” tab; CEO Danny Rand aka Iron Fist’s tab is “Investment Papers”; and, Luke Cage, famously known as the “Hero for Hire,” is on the “Billing and Invoices” tab.

The exclusive Alias Investigations vegan leather snap-shut folio contains a spiral journal with Jessica Jones art. As the interior journal is unlined, you could use it for a commonplace book, diary, sketchbook, little black book, a collection of D&D dungeon maps, or whatever else you’d like to keep flat in the outer folio. And as the notebook can be removed from the inner sleeve, you can keep using the snapping folio to hold other small notebooks, making this item partially reusable.

Marvel Knights’ exclusive Bullseye enamel pin is to be the last in their Villains series. Bullseye looks particularly diabolical, rivaling the Dormammu death’s head in the Mystics collection, and reminding me of a Marvel Zombies version of Bullseye.

Marvel Knights was another great example of how Marvel Gear + Goods gets Marvel fandom into all the areas of your life. Instead of more things to put on fans’ already burdened shelves, subscribers received desk items to liven up a Marvelmaniac’s office space, not only ten striking Sai paper clips, and a Daredevil gargoyle to watch over them, but four files and a notebook to dedicate to those special creative projects, and a mug for your caffeine or chocolate fix.

Though Marvel Knights is no longer available, until November 15th, 2017, you can order For Asgard with exclusive items featuring not only Thor, but Loki, Jane Foster, and Hela. Loot Crate has revealed a For Asgard item spoiler through this link.
