Marvel Gear + Goods’ Captain Marvel collection, Take Flight, arrived with the original insignia of this alien renegade, as well as the revised colors of the human who took up his mission.

Whenever I find a snapback cap lying on top of a Loot Crate, regardless of how nifty, artsy, or stylish it is, my admiration of it crumbles into the sinking realization that here is another cool cap that will never sit on my gigantic head. While many fictional characters have a harder time wearing snapback caps—R2D2 and M.O.D.O.K. come to mind–in the real world, I go capless in a sea of hats. Having acknowledged my aggravation with yet another snapback I can’t wear, I must admit that the Carol Danvers S.H.I.E.L.D. Snapback Cap is a pretty awesome bit of nerd bling with an embroidered patch and a tasteful, quasi-paramilitary presentation. Someone I know will no doubt love this cap. It just won’t be me.

My favorite item in Take Flight was the Mar-Vell t-shirt, which uses the silver age color scheme for the original incarnation for this Marvel hero, while updating the insignia. While it’s a little heavy for summer, I love the rich shade of green, which appears rarely in nature, and seldom in the human-made world, aside from the costumes of supervillains and superheroes.

While the Captain Marvel Beach Towel is a re-issue from an earlier Marvel Gear + Goods, it is such a colorful and dynamic fandom towel that I’m shocked to see it was still in the warehouse. Although we already have this one, it’s good to have a spare, as we use a lot of towels at the pool.

The Captain Marvel Luggage Tag is a lovely bit of vinyl rendering the iconic colors and starburst of the fan-favorite Marvel superhero. As I like to use nerdy stuff whenever possible in the real world, little things like a Captain Marvel Luggage Tag make me absurdly happy. If we’re being honest, who looks forward to tagging their luggage? It’s an unfortunate bit of pre-vacation precaution that no one enjoys, and it’s made fun by this thoughtful strip of vinyl. I’m not even the biggest Captain Marvel fan, but I’m glad that her fans are so enthusiastic that this luggage tag has manifested in the real world.

While I’m not a fan of the SFX pin line, the Captain Marvel BA-DOOM Pin is a bright and colorful badge to let your nerd colors fly.

Overall, Take Flight was an outstanding collection of Captain Marvel items, representative not only of her current splash in the movies, but of her historical comics career.
