Sorry for the vague headline, but in an interesting move, Radiohead have erased their entire online presence. Their website is currently a blank, white page with nothing on it. (Others have reported it growing lighter and lighter until fading away completely.)

Their Facebook page has been completely scrubbed of posts, both from the band and from their fans. Attempting to write something on their wall gets you a notification that your post will be “reviewed” by the page owner before appearing publicly. Their profile picture and cover photo are both solid white. And the same thing seems to be happening on Twitter, as well.

Rumors of a new album started back in January, when the band filed papers to form a new company – something that they have done for each of their previous, independent releases. The formation of “Dawn Chorus LLP” led to speculation that a new record would be out in three or four months, and hear we are, four months later, with all of these oddities going on around us.

The band also sent out leaflets recently to fans who’d ordered things from their website, with a cryptic, vaguely-threatening message that suggests the album might be titled Burn the Witch.

No idea what this is all adding up to, but it’s interesting, to say the least, and it’s certainly a good way to grab peoples’ attention in a world already inundated with Internet marketing.

Whether we get a new album or not, why not while away the time with their unused theme song for the most recent Bond film Spectre?
