Marvel Now! Reveals New X-Men Series

Confirming the speculation stemming from Marvel’s “XX” teaser image, Brian Wood and Olivier Coipel will be the new creative team on a female-centric X-Men title.

Jubilee will ostensibly be headlining the book but Storm, Rogue, Kitty Pryde and others will feature prominently. Brian Wood was quoted in USA Today saying,  “I feel like as far as the X-Men go, the women are the X-Men. Cyclops and Wolverine are big names, but taken as a whole, the women kind of rule the franchise.” Wood, who was previously writing the adjectiveless “X-Men” title for Marvel as well as Ultimate Comics X-Men feels a sense of good humored relief being able to talk about the title now.  “It’s like any second, I’m going to get a call and they’re going to be like, ‘Oh, no, we’re giving it to Bendis,’ ” Wood laughs.

This new X-Men title is in addition to his slate for Dark Horse which includes “Conan”, “The Massive”, and the red hot “Star Wars” relaunch.

The Marvel Now! title will be debuting in April, 2013.
