Quatermainnew

Indie publisher Bluewater Comics is releasing a miniseries about Colonial British adventurer Allan Quatermain. Written by Scott Davis (William Shatner’s Tek War) and drawn by Hoyt Silva, this is the second Quatermain outing for Bluewater. Dovetailing its release is an old-school radio program, “Allan Quatermain, Lord of the Locusts.”

One of the earliest pulp heroes – predating John Carter, Tarzan, Zorro, and even Sherlock Holmes – Quatermain debuted in Sir H. Rider Haggard’s 1885 novel King Solomon’s Mines. A hugely influential figure, the hero was featured in over a dozen other books, and was one of several heroes incorporated into Alan Moore’s League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. King Solomon’s Mines has been adapted to film at least six times, most notably in 1950.

Bluewater is a smaller publisher with a penchant for cool, lesser-known properties. In the past, they’ve taken chances on comics like Buckaroo Bonzai and That Man Flint. More recently, they’ve worked with William Shatner on Tek War, collaborated with the Ray Harryhausen estate on numerous series, and are currently working on Walter Koenig’s post-apocalyptic vampire story Things to Come.

“Allan Quatermain, Lord of the Locusts.” is debuting on satellite radio, and is available at Audible and Amazon. Quatermain will be available at your local comic shop, and at nearly every digital comics purveyor.
